I love my fiancé, but his family...to say it politely, is a little much. we are both Filipino and have large families. We wanted a small wedding but I have had to make due with about 200 guests. That is fine, I was prepared for it. My issue is that my fiance's family is HUGE. and I mean huge. they wanted to add 185 guests at least over our original 120. (My fiance and I are paying for the 120 and the rest his family and my family were splitting) however... they are suddenly willing to accept just 40 guests on their side as opposed from the original 225 guests they wanted. Least to say my future mother in law is known for her schemes and has bragged how they sneak people into the wedding by bringing the invitation and stepping out of the venue and passing it off to other family members. My fiance and I CAN NOT PAY FOR THE EXTRA GUESTS NOR DO WE WANT A LARGE WEDDING. Now for my question...
We have security and valet. Is it rude to put on the invitation... Attendance without ID and re-entry will not be permitted?
My Answer-Ok, I need to ask more questions: is the dinner a plated sit-down dinner or is it a buffet? If it is plated, you can do a seating chart and have escort cards for each person that RSVP'ed. That way they really can't sneak anyone in for the dinner portion as there won't be anywhere for them to sit. If it a buffet have everyone sit and then announce each table separately to partake in the buffet and when that table is done then the next table goes. I would also have only enough tables and chairs for those that RSVP'ed. Can you shut the doors and not let anyone else in after everyone gets there? If I can come up with something else I will let you know. Other than giving out dinner tickets to guests and the caterer confiscate them when they go the buffet, that is not very classy but it may work for you.
