Understanding Christianity

1689 Confession on Repentance Unto Life and Salvation

Listen Later

The Protestant Reformation started when Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg church in Germany. Listen to the first sentence: “Our Lord and Master Jesus Christ, in saying ‘Repent and believe the gospel’ meant that the whole life of the believer to be an act of repentance.”

What is repentance? How is repentance distinct from saving faith? Is repentance necessary for salvation?

Dr. Sean Cole addresses these questions by teaching Chapter 15 of the 1689 2nd London Baptist Confession on Repentance.
