A break up, a suitcase, an empty flat – and a fresh start. For my former client, Chris Hedderick, buying his first home as a newly single guy was just the beginning.

After deciding it was time for a change of pace in the renting game, Chris decided to go it alone and buy a warehouse-style loft flat in a listed ex-military store building in southeast London. He moved in with nothing but a suitcase and a mattress. Shortly after, Chris was assigned a new work location a three hour train journey from his home. To say his space was a weekend crash pad is no exaggeration.
