Poem: In my hometown,

The leaves on the trees are all 4c

No need to tame them

They all are free

So who can I blame then

For seeing the beauty in them and not in me?

On my TV,

It’s all different types of curls I see

Big curls, big hair, big energy

I can’t find myself in that category

And as I twist my hair at night

I wonder what I didn’t do right?

In my mirror

The curls and coils are all around me

And I love them I think?

Just don’t want the world to see

Just not at the length they are right now

Tomorrow maybe?

But in my eyes,

When I see the girls wearing their 4c

I’m in awe of the freedom they have and not me

And the more I see the beauty outside

The more it heals my inner child

And one day I woke up and realised

There’s nothing with my little 4c
