Today we are joined by the awesome Delphine Govender the co-founder and Chief Investment Officer at Perpetua Investment Managers – a value-oriented, long-only investment management firm which commenced operating in October 2012.
Delphine is a qualified Chartered Accountant and CFA charterholder. She has been in financial services sector for the past 21 years and in the investment management field for the past 18 years. Delphine gained the majority of her experience at Allan Gray Limited where she was employed for almost 11 years. She held the position of portfolio manager from 2005 and executive director from 2006.
Delphine left Allan Gray to start Perpetua Investment Managers as she believed there was an opportunity to build the next generation of asset management firms in South Africa, firms that could be differentiated from the established mega players by being authentically active in their investment approach and also more representative of the diversity of thought and people of our country and continent.
We talk to her about her upbringing with parents who were both academics. The decisions they made helped give her a great perspective on life. She walks us through what led her choice to becoming a CA and her love for business and finance. We also chat about her love for family & Cape Town, her view on personal finances, How she made the decision to become an entrepreneur and her view of being in the Investment Management game for more than 20 years. Enjoy
