Facing homelessness and joining the Marines out of desperation. A big risk with a big reward. As a teenager at the brink of manhood (turning 18) I had few options for a good future as an immigrant. Luckily for me the Military counts on such desperation to fill its ranks, via special programs for immigrants to gain citizenship if they join the armed forces. I was that desperate candidate, and this is my story.
