The Gospel writers were deeply shaped by the Scriptures of Israel, and they often tell the story of Jesus in ways that echo earlier biblical patterns and themes.
In this study, we slow down and explore some of those connections — looking at how the Gospels echo the stories of Moses, Elijah, Elisha, the Exodus, and Israel’s wilderness journey. Along the way, we consider how first-century Jewish readers may have heard these stories, and how recognizing those echoes can deepen the way we read Scripture today.
