Patanjali follows a process in which no one is left behind. He prepared the mind of his meditators to become silent, calm, and in a state that is one-pointed. Moving away from distractions, disturbances to a focus on one object - breath, mantra, sensation, imagination, etc. Then he shows the way to even leave that one object and move into nothingness.
