What comes to your mind when you think of muscles?  You probably think of gyms, body builders, Olympic lifters, weight loss.  Or MAYBE you think of injury prevention, or the prevention of things like Alzheimer's and Type 2 Diabetes.  And if you think these things, you're not wrong.  But building muscle is SO much more than just this.  Issues like obesity, CVD, Alzheimer's, and Type 2 Diabetes are a disease of skeletal muscle first.  Muscle is a metabolic organ.  It is part of your endocrine system!  It's in the literature, but very few people are talking about it.  What I get into in this episode barely scratches the surface, but it's a good start.
