Kathleen McCormack Durst vanished without a trace on the evening of January 31, 1982. She was last seen, by someone other than her husband, leaving her friend’s house where she had looked uncharacteristically disheveled.

After leaving, her husband - eccentric heir Robert Durst - claims she returned to their lake house, where they fought before she had dinner and drank a bottle of wine. He then says he took her to catch the 9:15 train to Manhattan, where she would stay at their apartment to attend medical school classes for the week.

He says they spoke on the phone later that night, once she had arrived safely, and that was the last he ever heard from her.

Her friends immediately suspected Robert had something to do with her disappearance, but he denies any involvement to this day.
