In this episode we feature Tori Bakey. Tori serves as the Communications and Development Coordinator at Philadelphia based nonprofit, ASAP (After School Activities Partnerships), where the mission is to keep youth from impoverished areas safe and engaged through after school programs.
Tori is a 2015 James Madison University grad with a B.S. in Political Science and Communications. After working extensively with the homeless of Philadelphia and Montgomery County, Tori decided to narrow her focus on her true passion of youth development, providing opportunities for kids with the greatest needs to reach their utmost potential. Tori believes deeply that while there is not a one-size fits all solution to deep poverty, working with youth through education is a crucial step in breaking the cycle. In this episode we dive into how Tori figured out the start of her career, where she gets her passion to help others from and the importance of family in everybody’s lives.
