“Where Is the One Who Is Wise?”

We would all like to claim that we have wisdom; it is something that mankind has always pursued. But true

wisdom is far different than what man often believes it to be. (1 Cor.3:18-20) Real wisdom and understanding are gained from places we sometimes fail to look. (1Cor.1:18-21; Prov.26:12; Rom.1:22; Isa.5:21)

Thankfully, God shows us where to find the things that will make our lives here complete and teaches us how to get wisdom that has genuine value. (James 3:17)

1.) The Right Kind of Wisdom Will Change Your Life (Prov. 4:1-13)

 Attempting fulfillment in earthly things is futile. (Ecc.2:10-11; Eph. 5:15-17)

 Finding contentment in suffering, trials & self-denial. (Mark 8:34-35; Heb.12:2; Rom.8:18; 5:3-4)

 Happiness comes with godly wisdom

(Prov.3:13-18; 24:13-14; 19:8; 8:32-36)

2.) What is True Wisdom?

 Fear of the Lord. (Proverbs 9:10; 1:7; 15:33; 2:6)

 Humility (Prov.11:2; Deut. 4:5-6; Matt 7:24)

 Discernment. (1 Kings 3:28; Prov.24:3-7; Rom.12:2; Col.1:9)

* Wisdom applied, then gives us practical help. (Prov.11:12; 18:15; 16:23; 24:23;17:27-28)

3.) How Do I Find the Way to Be Wise?

 Desire (Prov.4:8; 2:4)

 Apply (Psalm 19:7; Prov.18:4; Jer.9:24)

 Pray (1 Kings 3:11; Dan.2:30,23; Eph.1:17; James 1:5)

 Reflect (Psalm 90:12; Ecc.9:11-18)

 Come (Matt.12:42; 1 Cor.1:23-24,30; John 14:6; Col.2:3)
