Now more than ever, it is better to set goals rather than resolutions. As part of your goals ensure you set money goals, the kind of which positions you to have your best financial year ever.

Here are a few things to consider to jumpstart your 2022 financial goals:

1. Focus on your finances by establishing an annual budget for 2022
2. Break down your paycheck and or income by using 50% for essential expenses, 30% for nonessentials, and 20% for savings.
3. Set monetary goals by building your savings, most people don't have a lot in savings, and inflation they are experiencing isn't helping them at this time
4. A good goal is to save $2,500, a rainy day fund and it positions you to start investing, this will represent six months of saving
5. Pay off your credit card debts, student loans
6. Use the avalanche method which consists of paying off high-interest rate debts
7. Consider using the snowball payment method which includes paying off the smallest debt first
8. Know the difference between good debt and bad debt
9. If you are in over your head financially, the first thing to do is to stop spending so much money, go on a spending freeze, focus on your money goals and stop the financial bleeding
