We have personally dealt with the challenges presented by environmental inaccessibility as educators, advocates, and orientation and mobility (O&M) specialists for people with visual impairments. Imagine being able to hear the traffic while crossing a busy street without any sensory information to help you do so safely. Since this is usually the case for those who are visually impaired, advocating for environmental accessibility and attentive traffic engineering plays a crucial role to our learners and their independence.
