LOST IN THE LABELS

178. Are You Running on Empty?

Listen Later

Are you running on E?

How do you define E?

#empty, #energy, #everybody-elses-opinions-of-you?!?!

As I look back in my life, I can't help but recognize the seasons of my life where my self-worth was depleted. It may not have been a complete zero but it wasn't too far from it. The labels that cross my mind as I picture that woman are #stuck, #frustrated, #insecure, #broken, #abused and #lacking. Though I can now look back and see the good, positive traits outweighing the negative life labels, at the time it was almost impossible to see any intrinsic value.

It felt like an impossible task to gain a cadence or rhythm in my life while riding a broken bicycle. That bicycle being my broken belief system about myself. I would watch people speed past me with pumped up tires and enhanced mechanics. Meanwhile, my bike was pathetic, with flat tires and bent handle bars. Ha, have I painted a dramatic enough picture for you, like the cartoon bicycle that has wheels that aren't round?!

Today's episode we explore the idea that your self worth can be like a tank rather than a measuring stick. That you can be so depleted that you feel like you're running on fumes. We also explore the danger of staying in that state of mine or life and who might come alongside you and take advantage of your lack of self-worth.

In the episode, I refer to my dear friend and mentor John Stange who is a pastor, business leader, father, devoted husband and brilliant content creator. He has developed two amazing platforms through cadence and his desire to continue pedaling as he achieved and climbed the hills in his life. Those platform links are Desire Jesus and Platform Launchers

On a scale of 0-10, how would you rate your self-worth today?
