案件简介

2002年的秋天，华盛顿特区及周边地区陷入了一场前所未有的恐慌。短短二十多天里，人们在超市、加油站、学校门口、甚至自家门前，接连听到枪声。没有预兆、没有规律，仿佛死亡在空气中游走，谁都可能成为下一个目标。城市停摆、学校封锁、街道空无一人，全美的目光都投向了这场弥漫在首都上空的噩梦。而在嫌疑人落网后，警方和民众才发现，这场噩梦的范围，比人们最初以为的更广。

这一期节目，我没有试图分析凶手的痛苦，也不打算为暴力寻找心理借口。
我更想问的是：为什么在美国，暴力会如此频繁地发生？
当“强硬”“掌控”“别示弱”成了被赞美的品质，当持枪被视为权利与身份的一部分，暴力就不再只是个体的偏差，而成了一种被社会默许的表达。

这期节目我们一起回看这起让整个国家感到恐惧的案件，也进行一场关于美国文化和暴力的讨论。
