आज के  अध्याय का संदर्भ आदि पर्व के सांभव उपपर्व, वन पर्व और शांति पर्व से लिया गया है। यहाँ एक  संदर्भ  को छोड़ अन्य सभी संदर्भ प्राचीन नीलकंठ के प्रति और भंडारकर के प्रामाणिक संदर्भ में उपलब्ध है। सिर्फ एक घटना का वर्णन। और एक संदर्भ सिर्फ नीलकंठ पत्री में है पर वो भी भंडारकर का खंडन नहीं करता है। 

आज के संदर्भ में हम चर्चा कर रहे हैं गुरु द्रोण के गुरुकुल पर जिनके आश्रम में ही शिक्षित हुए थे वो ज्यादातर योद्धा जो कुरुक्षेत्र युद्ध के दोनों ओर से संमलित हुए थे जिनमे प्रमुख थे कुरु, वृषणी, अंधक और राधेय कर्ण।  पर आज की कथा उस महानायक की है जो गुरु और गोविंद दोनों का हे सर्वप्रिय था — अर्जुन

There is once incident, however, which is solely based on Neelkantha and although it is not mentioned in BORI CE, it no way contradicts BORI CE references.

The chapter narrates the tale of Drona gurukul, the asharam which was the first school for most of the warriors who participated in the great battle of Kurukshetra from either side. This included Kurus, Vrishinis, Andhakas and Radhey Karna. However, todays chapter is based on that super hero who was favorite of both his guru (Teacher) and God (Krishna) —  Arjuna, the "Nara" of Mahabharata.
