"Mick is my imagination come to life but always within the realm of masculinity. He began as a frat boy type but as I learned about toxic masculinity, I began to make a conscious effort to change Mick to instead focus on other aspects of “being a guy” and exploring pop culture references.

I was raised Protestant. Specifically, my family was Methodist until I was 14, at which time we joined the Presbyterian Church USA. I served as an elder and a deacon in PCUSA, and my mom became a lay pastor for the church. My mom had her own congregation for years until she moved away from our hometown in northern Minnesota. My mom currently works as a Christian education coordinator for a Methodist church. My little sister is active in the Presbyterian Church and has served missions overseas. Nowadays, I have come to discover that I’m not a Christian. While I appreciate the lessons of the faith, I have found my personal beliefs lie closer to a hybrid of Buddhism and Taoism. I have been studying the Tao since 2013 and Buddhism since 2018."

Series Description
