181: The Library: Black Sheep Dres (Part 2)
In part 2 of the interview, Co-founding member of the legendary hip-hop group Black Sheep, Dres talks his career post Black Sheep, working with Jarobi of A Tribe Called Quest to form the group EvitaN and the importance of giving respect to the pioneers of the culture.

"I feel like my flow is always evolving....I feel like I'm a much doper artist then I was 20 years ago. A matter of fact, I know I am. I'm definitely a student of the game at this point...I'm really proud of the MC I've grown to be."
"These days everything is really gimmicky. Everything is very cookie-cutter. They saw a blueprint that work and everybody emulated it. It seem like with a clone, every clone that comes after the original is weaker and softer and smaller and worse then the original."
"Just like the Rolling Stones are accepted and can sell out a stadium right now, that should exist in hip-hop too."
"Hip-Hop is still growing. It's a teenager right now. Give a teenager a million dollars, he's not going to do a lot of smart things with it. He's going to have a lot of fun and might be broke the next year. As we get older, we have to do better. We're at a point now where not everyone is a teenager. There are some young adults in hip-hop. I think hip-hop is starting to become a young adult. With that being said I we need to seek each other. There are things we can do unified, that we can't do on our own. That's where we have to get to....Hip-Hop doesn't need a label at this point, if we have each other."
"We're asked to forget slavery and to get over it. But we have to deal with the direct ramifications of it."
"One of the things I definitely hold onto are my influences. My influences are so important to me. The cats that made me really want to MC are Devastating Tito and Just-Ice...I think it's important that you pay homage to the cats that got you where you are."
"This music (rap) was founded by felons from New York. Cats that would literally take your head off founded something so beautiful that the world now holds onto it."'
"How you win as an artist is that you just be true to yourself."
