We continue in our salvation series today by asking the question why is God on a cross or what is He doing there? He came to fight, to free, liberate, save, redeem, purchase, restore, atone. To bind the devil and destroy his works, to undo the shackles of slavery to sin that leads to death. "No one can take my life from me, I lay it down on my accord to take it up again" John 10:18. St. Catherine of Siena: "'All the nails in the world could not have held Christ to the cross had love not held him there."
