183: Exploring: N-Town, Plays 31 to 34 (Passion Play 2)
Exploring: The N-Town Play, a slow burn look at a medieval Mystery (sort of) cycle. The N-Town Play comes to us as a single manuscript, but it's a compilation of various different sources - including elements from what looks like a cycle and various other large scale productions focusing on episodes from the Bible.
The journey continues with plays thirty one to thirty four - looking at the untidy close to the second Passion play as it is cut into by other material.
The Beyond Shakespeare Irregulars this episode were Eric Karoulla as Second Doctor, Mulier Two, Judeus Three, John, Third Soldier; Alan Scott as Caiaphas, Simon, Centurio; Lynn Freitas as Pilate, Veronica, Magdalen, Longeus; Helen Good as Satan, Annas, Belial, Joseph of Aramathea; Aliki Chapple as First Doctor, Judeus One, Mulier One, Jestes, First Soldier; Valentina Vinci as Demon, Jesus/Anima Christi, Nicodemus; Rachael Nicole as Pilates Wife, Third Doctor, Judeus Two, Dysmas, Second Soldier; Briony Sparrow as Judeus Four, Fourth Soldier, Maria.
The host was Robert Crighton.
There are various online and purchasable versions of these texts available - here's a good one, but is in the original middle English and might put you off - others should be hunted for to taste.
