Dr. John Cline is a professor at the University of Texas at Austin who teaches Mechanical Engineers how to develop their communication skills inside and outside the classroom. He is also the co-founder of The Mechanical Pencil, which is a company that offers writing consultant services to Engineers and other STEM professionals. Dr. Cline has a Bachelor's degree in English & Philosophy from the University of Iowa, a Master's degree in American Studies from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin.

In the past, Dr. Cline has also led students to study abroad programs in Chile. This summer he will be going to Copenhagen, Denmark with professor William Fagelson.
