#185 - Alexei Mirkin - Founder & CEO at alphaseeker.app
Spending his teenage years in Chicago and NYC, he often passed by the CME and the NYSE. Back then he had no idea what quantitative finance is, but being good with numbers always came natural. Alexei is a serial entrepreneur. Attended Hunter College in NYC studying economics for two years. Went on to start a couple of startups in the early 2000s. Continued on to 10 years of algorithmic trading on various markets. Quantitative finance quickly became his obsession.
In his early days of algorithmic trading, he was chasing the holy grail, just like all beginners. But over the years he has learned what a good strategy is when it comes to investing. It was ten long years of trial and error and continuous education, learning from the greats like Wyckoff and Markowitz. Creating models, simulations, testing algorithms - then wiping the board clean and starting over from a clean slate. After receiving an Artificial Intelligence with Python nano degree from Udacity, he decided to augment his purely mathematical approach and let ML do some of the heavy lifting. Alexei decided to combine the classical theory with ML. The results came out better than he could have dreamed then he decided to go ahead with another startup.
