I recently read someone write they were 'proud to be an introvert'. This was a statement which really got me thinking. Yep OK, as usual overthinking little things! But hey, I put together a whole podcast episode examining our relationship with pride as gentle rebels.
Like, what is pride and can/should we really be proud of aspects of our lives over which we have no control or say? And if not, what might be a better and healthier way to think about it?
In this show we explore:
Why temperament is no different to race, gender, or whether you're right or left handed
How pride can draw a divisive line between 'us' and 'them'
The difference between good and bad types of pride
How stereotypes can be inadvertently born
5 things we can all be proud of in our own lives
The false opposites of being proud, and the role shame plays in creating a destructive form of pride
Why you should be truly proud of the fact that you're who you are, alive during this tiny moment in this vast expanse of unimaginably large space and time
We can and must take great pride in our lives and the positive impact we can have with them. It all starts here.
