So, what’s in a church building? I can remember being told, as a boy, that the local church was the house where God lived. I think I found that idea a bit odd. Why would God want to hang out in a building on his own all week?
I suppose that religious buildings are more for our benefit than for God’s. We need a place to meet and worship together. We like to have a sacred space set aside for spiritual activity. But as far as God is concerned, the people are the church; the community of faith is God’s building.
