Reverend Tim Gutmann introduces a new sermon series from the Midweek Church Service, True Worship. Tim teaches us that worship is far more than singing — it is a life of humility, trust, and obedience before Almighty God.

Looking back briefly to the end of the wilderness teaching, the sermon reminds viewers that fear and unbelief delayed Israel’s inheritance, while Caleb and Joshua modelled a different spirit — faith that refuses to be intimidated by giants or armies because God is with His people.

From there, Reverend Tim turns to worship as a spiritual battleground. Using biblical contrasts, he highlights Saul’s self-seeking spirit — taking credit for victory, rushing ahead in fear of people, and even building a monument to himself — and sets it against David’s heart: a man after God’s own heart. The message draws out the sobering truth spoken to Saul: to obey is better than sacrifice, and that God desires the heart, not mere religious motion.

Romans 12 is used to define worship in New Testament terms: presenting our lives to God as a living sacrifice, refusing conformity to the world, and being transformed by renewed minds that discern God’s will. Worship, then, becomes daily surrender — waking up and yielding your work, time, and choices to the Lord.

The sermon also emphasises worship as warfare in the heavenlies, pointing to Daniel’s delayed answer and angelic conflict as a glimpse into what happens when believers pray and keep their eyes on the Lord. The message closes exalting God as the only sovereign — the King of kings and Lord of lords — and encouraging viewers that in every battle, the strongest response is often to worship, pray, follow, and obey.
