A lot of cinema love in this one. After longer than I can remember, I was finally excited about a new movie coming out, but I screwed up and ended up in a way too cushy theater, isolating me from the crowd, to experience it the way I wanted to, which is among the gasps and giggles of strangers.
That movie, of course, is Us, Jordan Peele's first movie since releasing American cinematic masterpiece, Get Out. And, wow, and I mean, WOW, Lupita Nyong'o is beautiful. She's absurdly beautiful. She's so beautiful it's distracting, but she's also a strong enough actress she overcomes it.
After that, I ran into a Shudder original Horror Noire about black American horror films. I had no idea Blacula was held in such reverence, so I tracked it down and it's pretty great. It was on Prime, of course, which has impressed me many times with their catalog. Ganja and Hess is there too, which I look forward to in the near future. Guess what, it's also on Prime.
Chester N Turner is a VHS genius and I look forward to his next picture.
