Into The Now

19. A Modern Fairy Tale

19. A Modern Fairy Tale

Modern life has become

some trippy-ass fairy tale.

With treats and treasures

dropping from the sky

by parachute pails.

We’re taught to squabble

over scraps and envy fame.

Like castaway children in the Hunger Games.*

Society has conditioned us to feel stranded and alone.

Left to make it on our own.

But instead of a tropical island

or mountain forest we…

live at home.

And media polls disclose

we do jobs we loathe

as if we were drones.

But I guess as long as the packages

continue to be delivered to my home.

I’ll just obey the Politicians

spewing injustice from propped up thrones.

Because, since my prosperity

is up to me you see,

I must go along.

I am not free.

So, in that case,

my energy,

shouldn’t be,

given free,

…I should… sell it.

Go out into the world dressed just so and dance.

Casting spells, cashing checks,

wondering if I’ll ever advance.

It is dizzying. Better yet insane,

this separate competing ego’s game.

While corporations literally pay politicians

to keep the game, forever tilted just the same.

Beyond dizzying, it aches my brain.

Oh, what could mankind do!

With a good reframe?

Because I believe in Humanity.

And the latent unity forming You and Me.

I believe We are inter-dependent, utterly, thoroughly.

I believe We will one day see.

that the ride… to Heaven… was driven by We.
