Dryad is an environmental IoT startup with a mission to develop a large-scale IoT network that allows public and private forest owners to monitor, analyze, and protect the world’s largest, most remote forests. The initial focus is to develop a system for the ultra-early detection of wildfires.

Carsten’s 20 years in mobile network infrastructure includes three successful exits: Core Network Dynamics (acquired by Twilio), Movirtu (acquired by Blackberry), and Synchronica (acquired by DAT Group).

Here are some of Carsten’s accomplishments:

• Sold Core Network Dynamics GmbH to Twilio for $13.2m
• Raised €1.5M in seed funding for Weblicon, a market-leading mobile email, and synchronization software
