Ya’qub’s story is part of a greater – no, the greatest story – in the Qur’an. The story of how Yusuf was separated from his loving father through the actions of his siblings. They felt jealous of Yusuf and his younger brother, so the devil spurred them to take a plan to remove Yusuf from the picture. They tricked Ya’qub, took Yusuf, and threw him into a well. Upon being informed, Ya’qub resigns his matter to Allah, knowing that he cannot change the situation himself.
