In the previous episode, we spoke about nostalgia and augmented reality, how we see some old faces and visuals in a different context. We also told a beautiful story of Emerald island (Markat). Do you recall which country we were talking about? Today, we are talking about the nymphs of the heaven and earth (Apsara) but they descend on earth when there is a Yagya, so let’s head there :) 

पिछले अंक में हमने बात की थी nostalgia और augmented reality की कि कैसे कुछ पुराने चेहरे और दृश्य एक बिल्कुल अलग और नए परिप्रेक्ष्य में दिखने लगते हैं, और सुनाई थी एक सुंदर सी कहानी मरकत द्वीप की, मरकत द्वीप अर्थात emerald island, क्या आपको याद है वहाँ हमने कौन से देश का ज़िक्र किया था? बहरहाल, आज के अंक में बात करते हैं स्वर्ग और धरती की अप्सराओं की, किंतु अप्सराएं तो तभी आती हैं जब यज्ञ हो, तो चलिए पहले यज्ञ और सोम सुरा की बातों वाली ये कविता सुन लेते हैं...

वही वारूणी जो थी सागर मथकर निकली अब हाला, रंभा की संतान जगत में कहलाती 'साकीबाला',

देव अदेव जिसे ले आए, संत महंत मिटा देंगे! किसमें कितना दम खम, इसको खूब समझती मधुशाला (56)

and -

सोम सुरा पुरखे पीते थे, हम कहते उसको हाला, द्रोणकलश जिसको कहते थे, आज वही मधुघट आला,

वेदिवहित यह रस्म न छोड़ो वेदों के ठेकेदारों, युग युग से है पुजती आई नई नहीं है मधुशाला (55)
