To simplify is a thing to which most of us aspire. Anything that will bring some clarity in this increasingly noisy world…we’re looking for it. This is a noble ideal. Of course, not all things are simple. When we over-simplify across the board—even on those matters which are inherently complex—the simplistic solutions generated tend to fail us. There is a time for stark simplicity, but we also must know when more nuanced optionality is the right approach.
