Bridging the Social Distance

191 - Adrian Stickland

Listen Later

For this episode I interview Adrian Stickland - born and raised in Guelph, Adrian has now lived in this city for over six decades! Him and I connect to talk about his history of playing music, his first drum kit, his first band, his first love of the Beatles and his discovery of punk. We compare notes as to our city's past music stores, and music venues, and try to imagine what might lie ahead. Two of Adrian's bands are releasing vinyl this year - "The Dead Souls" (Adrian's Joy Division cover band) and "Maggot Fodder" (a band Adrian was in decades ago, releasing some of this music for the very first time). At the end of today's interview stay tuned for the world-radio/podcast-debut of Maggot Fodder's song "My Wife". Thank you Adrian for taking the time to connect! Also be sure to check out the awesome interview Gracy Go did with Adrian last year on Radiopirg for Black Heritage Month, where Adrian shares some of the history and origins of punk music - you can find it in our archives at https://archive.cfru.ca/.../RadiOPIRG%20-%20February%2025...

This interview was originally recorded on Feb 16th 2022
