It’s coming up to the May bank holiday this weekend and one of the regular events on the Ramsbottom calendar around this time is the 1940s weekend, or war weekend as it was previously known but for obvious reasons this name fell out of fashion.
This time the 1940s weekend has had a bit of an overhaul and one person leading this charge was none other than Jane Pritchard of Mrs P’s Ice Cream.
I spoke with Jane off the Mic this weekend to find out more about what’s been going on. She told me that the event has been funded by local businesses in Ramsbottom, 40 of them in total, each of which has donated £30 to put the event on. As well as that, they’ve managed to rope in the window cleaner to hang the bunting of which there is 800 meters up and down Bridge Street.
So, let me get to what you’re wanting to know, exactly what is going to be happening at the 1940s weekend. Well, as always there will be a large presence from East Lancs Railway including them bringing some additional vehicles down from Bury to Ramsbottom to be put on display.
The schedule for East Lancs Railway events is:
Saturday 26 May 2018
Sunday 27 May 2018
East Lancashire Railway 1940s Weekend 2018
Mrs P’s Ice Cream Shop
Full steam ahead for East Lancashire Railway’s 1940s event – Bury Times
