When thinking of writing a book, we often run into the problem of having too many ideas. We don’t even know where to start because we have too many thoughts and too little structure. In those cases, I like to ask the “shotgun question.” If I put a gun to your head and gave you no time to pick what you’re going to write about, what would you pick? To take the question even further, I could tell you this is the only book you’ll ever write, after which you will be dead. This raises the stakes and forces you to think about what matters the most. Always think about writing from the point of view of impact? What can you have the most impact with right now?
