On The Library, Tim talks to veteran author and Hip Hop Historian Brian Coleman about his new book “Check the Technique: Vol 2: More Liner Notes For Hip-Hop Junkies." Brian told Tim during the interview, "I could have probably sold this to a major publisher if I had wanted to take an extra couple of months and really pitch it around and kiss people's butt and stuff like that," Coleman told Tim. "i just don't do that. And part of the reason I don't do that is because I take inspiration from people Too $hort, Schoolly D, Uncle Luke from 2 Live Crew in the way they've always been like "you know what, I want this to be undiluted. I want it to do it exactly the way I want to do it." Maybe that's offensive to some people but I'm an artist and I express myself. Listeners can decide to deal with that however they want. They can not buy it or they can buy it and get really into it."
