EPYSODE 85: Guts by Jodo.
Guest: Jodo guitarist Rod Alexander.
Additional commentary by Uncle Herff.
This week we dive into Guts, the explosive and overlooked debut from British hard-rock band Jodo. Recorded in 1971, Guts blends blues-infused riffs, dual-lead vocals, and a raw energy that sits somewhere between early heavy rock and proto-metal.
Though Jodo never achieved commercial success, their sole LP has become a cult favorite among collectors, celebrated for its ferocious guitar work, powerhouse rhythm section, and gritty, soulful vocals. In this epysode we walk through the history of the album with guitarist Rod Alexander.
Jodo were a band at the edge of the British rock explosion, and this one remains a hidden treasure of the era's heavier sounds.
I hope you dig Guts as much as I do.
