In episode 7 of the Lowell Bennett podcast series Lowell talks about his big switch to a small block motor and racing against many brand new race cars on both dirt and asphalt in 1979.

It was during the '79 season the dirt and asphalt cars also began to evolve into two different animals. Thus to run both surfaces with the same car required more work in the shop.
