Not Her Again

1983: Meryl Plays a Sick Woman, But Loses to a Sick Woman’s Mom

Listen Later

We are done with Warren Beatty (for now) and onto his sister, Shirley MacLaine, who wanted an Oscar so badly she even got a nomination for Best Documentary in the 1970s. With the help of James L. Brooks, MacLaine finally got her Oscar for Terms of Endearment. Join us as we discuss the racist casting of Linda Hunt as an Asian man, Cher’s Oscar-nominated work opposite Meryl Streep in Silkwood, and the late, great Sam Shepard’s wonderful performance in The Right Stuff.

Hosted by Michael (@cateblanchetttt), with Katherine (@KathrnTheGrate) and Walter (@walthickey). Please let us know your thoughts on the films of 1983 by leaving us a review on iTunes!
