1987 was an exceptional year in hip-hop history, and I was fortunate to have fallen in love with it in that year. Before 1987, I had known of hip-hop through RUN DMC, Sugar Hill Gang, and Fab 5 Freddy's presence on Blondie's Rapture, but those were just songs that I liked because they were made to be a part of the cultural backdrop. It was in 1987 when I, for the first time fell in love with this medium.
