Don flew back to Costa Rica for a week.

 

 

I had made these little cards so he could get information in a world where he didn’t speak the language.  On one side I put his photos of him or his cats because he loved to show them off to anyone who would look.  On the back, in very large type, I’d write a sentence as simply as I could say it, so Don could read it, and then the Spanish translation.  This way he could show someone a card with telephone, or bathroom, or food, or water, or hotel on it and the person reading the Spanish translation could at least point him in the right direction.  This is one example of the cards I’d made for him.
