Melissa Valle, Success Coach at Pacific Oaks College’s Student Success Center, was born in Tijuana, Mexico and came to the United States when she was just five years old. She talks about the realities of being a first-gen college student and the pressures to live up to her family's dreams as she continues to blaze the path for future generations. Melissa reflects on her journey of navigating through the educational system on her own while being told she could not succeed as a young teen mother.
