War with surrounding nations. Asking God for victory through prayer - and getting it without shots fired or casualties. Being reprimanded by a prophet - as a godly king representing God - not to form any more alliances with the Baal-worshiping kings from Israel (the northern kingdom; the 10 tribes). Such an alliance will not be blessed - and it was not. (Reminds me of the verses in Scriptures saying not to seek out marriage - or business relationships - with unbelievers if you are a Christian and holding firm in your principles (2 Corinthians 6:14) without expecting problems.
