True teachers are established by God rather than by human approval. They stand under apostolic authority rather than asserting their own. They know themselves to be nothing apart from Christ, give themselves sacrificially even when mistreated, labor for unity rather than division, and allow the spiritual good of the saints—not self-vindication—to govern everything they do.
