2. Educating Students During a Pandemic...

Listen Later

...or Baby Boomers Spoiled It.

"You know, yes the data for COVID 19 is there and we should pay attention to it but there’s been years, decades of data for education that says kids are being underserved and we could’ve figured this out. We are not using this as an opportunity to say “Let us figure out this public education. Let us put ideas on the table. Let us have these conversations.” What we’re doing is putting a square peg in a round hole and this is now where I’m seeing innovation. It’s not." - Steven Ward

We engage with two seasoned educators, primary school teacher Jasmine Novick (@MsJazNew) from Los Angeles, California and high school principal Steven Ward (@stevenward83) from Memphis, Tennessee, about educating students amidst the global pandemic- specifically what it means for the mental and emotional health of students, parents, and society as a whole. We also dive into how  social justice movements are shifting priorities and impacting curriculum. We discuss what to expect, what may or may not happen next, and what innovative education can look like in the future.

In Generational Envy, we are joined by Carly, a millennial, and her mom, Maureen, a baby boomer from Toronto, Canada. Carly shares what she wishes she learned from her mom’s generation while Maureen shares her thoughts on why she believes baby boomers spoiled it for the rest of us.

In Play-That-Back, we take you to 1994.
