#2 - [EN] A meeting with musician Jonathan Mann

Listen Later

For this second episode of The Daily Experience, I meet Jonathan Mann, an American musician who has been composing and publishing one song a day since January 1, 2009.

Through his project “One Song a Day,” Jonathan has been exploring for more than sixteen years all the forms that a daily practice can take: lighthearted or political songs, intimate stories, reactions to current events, fragments of life. Some of his songs have gone viral, others remain more confidential, but all are part of the same gesture: continuing, day after day.

In this long interview, we talk about what such persistence over time produces: the relationship to constraint, fatigue, freedom, and the value of simple works.

Jonathan also discusses his interest in other artists engaged in daily practices, and how these solitary gestures ultimately create a form of community from a distance.

An episode that invites us to reflect on what it means to create every day and how this gesture transforms us and the world.

This interview is available in two versions, with introductions and conclusions adapted to the language of the listener.
