Amaziah, king of Judah, begins with obedience but not with a whole heart. His pride after victory leads to defeat and humiliation, reminding us that partial obedience is dangerous and pride comes before a fall. Yet God's compassion is seen in Israel's restoration under Jeroboam II, fulfilling Jonah's prophecy and pointing us to the mercy and sovereignty of God.
