The story of Lazarus is in the very centre of John’s Gospel. It forms the longest single story. It binds together the great themes of life and death and resurrection. It looks back to the first half of the Gospel and ahead to the passion and resurrection. John tells the story of Jesus in seven great miracles or signs, ending with the raising of Lazarus from the dead.
