If you have sat with your child at the early stages of reading and you hear this, " the c-a-t cat s-a-t sat o-n on the m-a-t matt'. You will get excited that they are reading. But wow, It's taken them four minutes to do one sentence! Yes. We know you need some patience. Yes. We know they're going to get there. But it might not ever get to the point that they will be able to answer questions in an exam.
It takes a lot of patience in the early stages. They will become fluent readers and it's amazing how quickly they will get there thinking big picture. In this episode, I talk about going from learning to read, to reading to learn.
All children will make this transition at some point. And the first thing we're gonna talk about is actually what we call the simple view of reading.
