Have you faced a project that seems insurmountable but you knew it needed to get done? What did you do? Avoiding it won’t get it done. Stressing out about it frustrates not only ourselves but everyone around us. Have you tried taking it to God and laying your burden before Him and letting Him open the doors then walking through as He provides? Have you asked your church family for help? That’s why we are here!
God placed a burden on Nehemiah’s heart for the walls of Jerusalem to be rebuilt. This week, we see how God opens the door for Nehemiah to talk with the king about his burden, and it is even further opened for him to have time off and to make requests for resources from the king. Nehemiah’s heart and attitude that has been practiced in private comes out clearly in public, then he boldly makes requests knowing that the hand of God is moving. This keeps him confident even in the face of opposition.
Key Verse - Nehemiah 2:17 - Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.”
